Is there a difference between the .32 H&R 1871 and the .32 H&R Mag.?

I want to order some ammo for my newest addition coming in this week and chambered in .32 H&R Mag. After looking on some websites, I see Federal has ammo listed as .32 H&R 1871. Is this the same thing?

Also, does anyone know if the S&W Model 331 (I am buying from an owner, not a dealer, so please don't flame) will accept .32 S&W Longs and Shorts as well as .32 H&R Mags.?

I would think that the Federal ammo WOULD be the .32 Mag. H&R 1871 (the name of the current company, I think) is the ones who developed the round along with Federal. That's probably just a nod to them.

As for the .32 ammo interchangability...

You CAN shoot the .32 S&W Long in the .32 Mag.

You can also shoot the .32 S&W (there's no short in the name of the S&W round) in the Mag. revolver.

The .32 Short is actually a Colt cartridge. I do not know if it is interchangable with the above or not.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.
