Is there a difference between McCormick,Wolff, and Wilson magazines?

I recently purchased a Kimber Custom CDP II, and love it. After being a bit disappointed that the weapon only came with one magazine, I went over to look at the magazine selection my favorite gun shop has. as I reached for a stainless 8rd McCormick Shooting Star (I've used these in the past without any problems), another customer said they were worthless, and try Wilson only. I read something about Wolff. Any input. My bottom line is, and remains that if it works for me, I'll keep it, recognizing that as a shooter, I have some responsibilities for my equipment, i.e. cleaning mags and weapon. Anyone else?

Junk?

Well, I've both Wilson and Shooting Stars and both have functioned with total reliability in my two Gunsite Colts......

Junk? :barf: I DOUBT IT.....

I'd think that any of these are just fine....just get a magazine brush and keep 'em clean.

I've got a bunch of McCormick Shooting Stars and they've been totally reliable. (The only other mags I've got that are equally reliable, are some COLT factory 7 and 8 rounders.)

A number of my shooting buddies swear by Wilson mags, but there was a period, last year, when a num ber of new production Wilson mags were troublesome. Some of those same shooting buddies got a couple of them. They still swear by Wilson mags, and just can't understand why they're having problmes. (They thin it might be the guns....) Right.

Just shows you the power of word-of-mouth advertising. Wilson's reputation is so good, that evidence to the contrary (with, admittedly, a small number of questionable mags) is ignored.

Name brand elitism.

All the eight round McCormick magazines have been totall reliable for me. Not so mych luck with ten round magazine.

The funny thing is once people buy into the reputation of a company they will accept far more problems than with a no name company.

I bought a truckload of McCormick's for training (like $6 a mag). After a little over 120 of hours of skul, the first roation began to misfeed.

Replaced springs with Wolff springs and Pachie followers, no problems yet (but no skuls yet either, just shooting on my own). Will report later.

Yes, the name on the magazine.

Wilson Combat magazines are considered the most reliable in the industry by the FBI, but they're not the only reliable magazine ever made.

I found Wilson and Chip McCormick Power Magazines to function flawlessly. The CMC's are $6 cheaper than the Wilsons at Brownells so I've been buying more of them.I haven't tried any others.

I found the Wilson's to be more long lived than the Shooting Stars. Either will require new springs after a few hundred cycles.

Biggest disappointment: Colt factory magazines.

Actually the FBI HRT team experienced problems with the Wilson 8 round mags, they now are using a MetalForm 7 rounds with an 11 pound wolff spring, I have 6 of these and have 0 problems with them. I also have 15 of the Wilson 8 rounders and only 1 gave me problems.

BTW you can order the metalform mags for under $14 for 10 or more.

Thank you for your inquiry. We assume you are referring to the .45 caliber magazine. That would be part number 45-793B Special (be sure to specify Wolff 11 pound spring- that's what makes it a special.) The price for 10 pcs. is $13.35 each.

You may order with Visa, Mastercard or Discover by calling 800-618-3318.
