Is there a device for attaching a ccw to?

I heard/read about something like a mounted bracket under the dash
that you could attach a ccw to and leave it in the car if you were going
into a building where you could not take a weapon.
Does anyone know of such a thing? Where it could be found?

I just stick it in my center console or glovebox.

Such a rare occurrence here in KY, mainly when I have to get something renewed at the courthouse or go to a customer's house.

Make sure it is out of sight.

And any mags are out of sight.

While thieves may occasionally break into a car to 'look around,' most of the time they break in to grab something they can see.

I have a small gun box that attaches to my seat, and I stuff it under the seat. It's like a safe, just not AS strong. But it'll do it's job.

Mount a Gunvault bolted to the floor of your vehicle behind the drivers seat. No one can take it without a heavy duty prybar and 5-10 minutes of hard labor, and thieves would have to know about it to be packing a heavy duty prybar.

there are very rare occasions that I have to leave my gun and for that reason I had my glove box re-keyed to separate key (was $15 at Dodge dealer).

Those type of mounts are designed so you can have you gun more accessable while driving and more comfortable than wearing your gun if you're going to be driving a while. They are not meant to leave you gun unattended in your car. Use some kind of a box that you can bolt down. Out of sight is even better. I use a FAS1 SAFE in my Explorer and I can reach and open it from the driver's seat without looking at it. It's not hidden, but is 3/16" steel and more secure than any console or glovebox. The console and seats block it from anyone looking in from the front doors or windshield and the rear windows are tinted.

Safe & sound...

I highly suggest using a small gun case or "rug" to protect & secure your loaded firearm when you are not in or near your vehicle.
A Plano or Docisil(check spelling) can be locked & prevent theft or damage(heat, sunlight, etc). I wouldn't leave any firearm out in a car or SUV for long periods but if you are at work or on a trip, a hard case or rug is better than a bracket or magnet. ;)

My state by law requires firearms(loaded or unloaded) be stored in a covered storage device or case.
These cases run from $5.00 to $20.00 USD & can take a small lock.

GunVault makes devices similar to what Stevie-Ray mentions. They also sell them with a combo lock so you do not need to keep a key on you. I have one for each of my vehicles for those times you cannot carry at your destination. I also includes a cable to wrap around something secure in your vehicle.

Tuffy Security Drawers

I have a couple of the Tuffy Security drawers in my Jeep. They make a real quality product with good customer service, although their product line is limited as far as which vehicles they make the product for. If you have a Jeep, SUV or pickup they probably have something for you...

In fact, here it is, and it seems to be at the price I got my Secure-it for:

In all seriousness, I would have opted for the GunVault, as I have one of their fast-opening double safes as well, and it is quite good. Back when I got the Secure-it, it was about the only one of it's kind around and it also includes a cable to tie around something solid. Guess they've been "discovered." For the new prices, I'd opt for the GunVault Nano, as paying more than $25 for one of these seems rather silly.

This may seem like a smart aleck answer but it isn't intended that way. Why wouldn't a pair of handcuffs work? Most are hardened (I believe) and one cuff could be locked through the triggerguard and the other to the under seat frame - and tucked back out of sight. A pair of cuffs is not that expensive and to the best of my knowledge, possession of them is not illegal. Only you will have the key and have access to your firearm.
