Are these current production LCP's (not LCP II) made the same as the older Gen 2 LCP's?

A while back the price on a new LCP (Gen 2 with "good" trigger) dropped from around $300+/- to about $220. Iirc, Ruger's explanation was that they found a less expensive way to make it. Rumor had it that the Gen 2 LCP was on its way out.
Then came the LCP Custon, and later the LCP II.
But there're still tons of Gen 2 LCP's. Now Ruger offers them in all colors.
