My neighbor just informed me of this bill, which if passed will require that each gunowner list owned firearms with the IRS on the 1040 form and pay a $50 tax on each. It was also said that this bill will not require a full, but only a committee vote. I couldn't find such a bill on the senate.gov website. My friend was reading this from a publication called AgriNews out of Billings, MT.

Please, anyone, say it ain't so.

1: It is a real Bill
2: It is unconstitutional. ALL revenue bills MUST originate in the House (Article 7, section 1, I think)
3: Sen Phill Gramm wrote me saying that this bill will never leave the Finace committee.
4: Even if it did, IT'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!
5: Freshman Sen Reed, who introduced this bill should be required to retake high school civics class and READ the Constitution!

I wrote my congressmen about this bill. I've yet to get a reply. By now, I'm sure they've filtered my email address to: Annoying Gun Nut Folder

ArmySon,

I'm trying to stay out of that folder, so I also write about many other issues that concern me.

This bill, as I understand it, is dying in the water. Let's keep pounding our reps and make sure it drowns, then gets buried at sea.

This Senate Bill turned up over on the handgun section. So here is amuch shorter veresion of what I posted there.

In response to my E-mail, Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma advised me that it is dead. And he will continue to fight any proposed legistation on Gun Control.

Interesting that this seems new to so many of you folks here. This Bill was covered in depth over in Shooters.com about 2 months ago. Along with several others.

As far as being delegated to a Gun Nut Folder, how else are the wimps to learn what their voters are thinking. If you don't write them....then all they will get is Anti-Gun letters and consider that as what is required by the folks that elected them.

A lot of whacked-out bills are submitted in Congress every year. S2099 is one of them. They rarely get anywhere, and are more a vehicle for the Congresscritter to claim "I did something about X" than anything else.

Someone pass me a mallet and stake -- please!
