Is Remington making a 338 Lapua Magnum?

I heard a rumor that Remington was going to be introducing a 700 series chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum next year.

Does anyone have any info on this?

I think it's a great idea myself.

damn i wish they would.
i want a .338 lapua magnum so bad, but i cant afford the expensive rifles that chamber for it, like the ones from acuracy international.

If I recall correctly, it isn't safe to chamber a 700 in .338LM... Something about having to make the barrel/chamber walls too thin.

Look at the Hall G action...

Have you considered getting 338 built on a falling block action? I talked with the owner of the E. Arthur Browning shop about this (www.eabco.com), and he seemed to indicate that the .338 Lapua could be safely chambered on the Ruger #1 action.

(Best of my recollection, don't hold me accountable here)

In such case, the rebarrel might set you back a few hundred, and a few hundred for the Ruger #1 action, you could conceivably get a nice piece, minus highpower scope, for under $1000. Just one suggestion for possible consideration. I was planning to do this myself, but it's on the back burner until I get the reloading settup to afford to shoot the 338 Lapua. Sounds like a great cartridge though...
