Is Remington 721 the same reciever style as the 700? I buying a Williams peep sight for a model 721 or 722 and wondering if it will fit a model 700.

I would have said yes, but I see in the Brownells catalog that while the 5D* sight is the same stock number, the Foolproof is not (one number off). I have no idea why.

*No longer five dollars.

The same style? Yes....

The exact same dimensions? I don't know, but I think not exactly the same.
The sight might fit, or it might not, depending on the exact positioning of the mounting holes on the action.

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

I was under the impression that the Foolproof sight attached to the top of the receiver in the scope mount holes and the 5D attached to the side of the receiver.

The Williams WGRS sight attaches to the top of the reciever and not sure if the foolproof had 2 mounting styles or not. I know the one I have is side mount.

The Remington 721 IS NOT the same as the 700. Its a stronger longer action after the 1917 Enfield action.

Probably the best action Remington ever made. But in cutting cost they went to the 700 action like Winchester went to the post 64 model 70.

Not saying there is anything wrong with the 700, but its not as strong as the 721.
Not for the shorter shells though.
