Is Ithaca going bankrupt

I was a a local gun establishment today, the crappy armynavy mentioned in another post here on TFL, and one of the sales guys was saying that Ithaca is going under???? The reason I am wondering is this shop had a beautiful version of the Ithaca mod 37 police gun.

anybody have any feed back on either Ithaca going bankrupt or the police mod37.

Ithaca has been in and out of Chapter Something in the last decade or so. It may be again, competing with Chinese clones, 870s and so on is tough work.

The 37 is one of the all time classics. Well designed(JMB) and made, they last for generations and are hard to find on the used market. This is because they're cherished.

While factory parts may be unavailable from the factory if it closes, since 37s rarely break down it's moot.

Dave McC,

Do you know if the current M37s are as well made as the older ones? I know the new ones have MIM components, etc., but I don't know if they are quality components...

Thanks,
Steve

I've heard but not seen that the ones built while Ithaca was in receivership were roughly finished, but still performing well.

There was a change a decade or so back that changed the action from a fan(Hold trigger down and keep racking, will fire when action closes until empty) fire to a conventional firing weapon, but that had naught to do with quality.

Some of the ones with Phosphate( Parkerized) finish seem rough to rack at first, but like the 870 Express, break in nicely.

Go case by case, if it looks good and says Ithaca, it's probably a keeper.
