Is it possible?

I have a stevens mod. 59A in .410. Is it possible to re barrel to accept .45-70 or .454 casul without any bolt modification? Is this action strong enough to handle either load?

No. Shotguns typically operate at fairly low pressure (below 12,600 psi). 45-70 SAAMI spec is 28,000 psi, 454 Casull SAAMI spec is 50,000 psi. Besides, either of those choices would require rebarrelling, and I don't know any gunsmiths who are foolish enough to rebarrel a cheap shotgun with 1/4" of threads and only the bolt handle as a locking lug to a high-pressure rifle or handgun cartridge.

Thank you that was my concern. The barrel i have is shot and was wondering if there was a possibility of making it useful again. I do not need a .410 shotgun

How did you wreck a shotgun barrel? I mean, there's obviously ways to do it, but it's not that common and they normally don't just wear out.

He's right, though, that shotguns operate at very low pressures. A .410 slug out of a full-length shotgun barrel actually has less energy in it than a .45 Colt bullet. That's why I always tell anyone who's considering getting a Taurus Judge or similar to just buy a basic revolver and use pistol shotshells. A shotshell designed for a pistol can operate at much higher pressure levels. If a .410 is less powerful than .45 Colt even out of a full-length barrel, how anemic do you think it will be out of a pistol-length barrel?
