Is it possible??? 327 carbine

I figured I better ask the guys who may know.
Is it possible to convert a Rossi M92 lever action to chamber the 327 magnum cartridge.
If it is, what would be involved and what kind of price range we looking at?

Seems no one will ever make one so I may have to take matters into my own hands if I want one.
 
If you're willing to go through the trouble and expense of relining or replacing the barrel, sure. The cartridge length seems comparable.

.357 Magnum Overall length.......1.59 in (40 mm)
.38 Spcl Overall length...............1.55 in (39 mm)
.327 Magnum Overall length.......1.47 in (37 mm)
 
I have a M92 in 357 mag that I would gladly get done if it would work. And if it was not soo expensive as " Only a crazy person would do it" Pretty sure I would not be alone.

What do you think about the feed mechanism? Ejection/ Bolt ect?
 
I have a number of winchester 92s have taken at least one apart the day I got it. I got more than a pound of dirt out of it. I weighed it before and after. And no, I did not have any parts left over:)

My brother is trying to convert a Win92 32-20 [a hair bigger than a 327 Federal] to a 357 mag class cartridge, the 256 Win mag.

There are more problems, like a different lifter is needed.

Anything is possible with enough time and money. The .327 uses a .312" bullet though. Doubt you'll find a barrel without going to a barrel worth more than the rifle.
 
Ok yea I figured that. Dont know if it could be drilled and sleeved or if any one knows if a Winchester 92 type barrel is a direct fit?
I thought a company made them. Green Mountain?????? maybe..
 
Probably not a real good choice, since the days of the .327 appear to be numbered; you could spend time and money converting that carbine to a cartridge you won't be able to get in a few years.

I will always be able to get it. I reload. :-)
I already have enough 32 H&R, 32L and 327 brass to last for a few life times.
And I cast my own bullets. So as long as they make pistol powder and small pistol primers I can shoot.
Cant shoot a gun I dont have though.
Ammo availability is a zero concern for me.

Don't go ringing any death knell for the .327 Federal... it's doing at least as well as the .41 Magnum and it is currently poised to have more of a future even with a fraction of the past.

And don't do that either. ;)
.327 Federal is factory loaded only with small rifle primers and all published data agrees. This is a 45k PSI max round, stick with small rifle primers.

And haters need not apply.
 
The only loads that I use SRP is H110 loads. All of my cast boolit loads are way under max using standard pistol powders, also my 2400 loads use SPP's.

Looks like from the RE's to this thread though. My wait for a 327 carbine wont be over any time soon.
