Is it ok to use +P loads in FEG's hp's

I was reading on a board today , and some guy mentioned that
+P loads should not be fired in FEG's . And said that the guns
arent ment for them . Personally i dont believe it because i have
fired Corbon , and Starfires in the past to see if the gunwould
feed them properly . And they worked fine , and didnt cause any Damage to the Gun . I realize it's not smart to shoot +p's for every day practice , but imo +P's for defense are ok . I just wanted to get other peoples opions who have FEG's JPK or
High Powers . Thanks

I'm not familiar with FEG's but I believe they are all steel pistols. No rocket science here. Generally, all steel means "strenght". "Limited" PLUS PEE usage shoudn't be a problem.
If ya blow up the pistol, what the heck, get another.....there're only like $200 bucks anyway.:)

I have shot +P loads thru an FEG HP...didnt seem to hurt it. It was the smaller version. I dont see why they would hurt it....
Call Charles Daly...they are the same thing as KBI, the importer
for FEG..they could tell you for sure....shoot well

I own one. Have not shot +P through it yet, but would not hesitate. It's a strong gun.

If you have any concerns, get a stiffer recoil spring from Wolf.

If you shoot a lot of +p through it you will wear it out faster. What that means is the slide to frame fit will loosen up, the springs will wear out, the barrel fit will loosen up, all of the moving parts will loosen up quicker that with normal ammo usage.

Who knows how many rounds that would be?

One of the posters here who is an HP guru uses a Wolff 18.5 # spring and a buffertech shok buff on his HP's. Shoots a lot of +p and has no problems.

My FEG owners manual (which i can't get to right now) doesn't address +p ammo but does give specific ammo recommendations for grain weight and velocity.I'll see if i can report back specifics later.:)

Hello, Al205. First, my first-hand experiences with FEG HP clones is limited, but the guns that I have shot have been reliable and reasonably accurate.

I know nothing of the steels used in these guns, but suspect strongly that you can use the hotter rounds for self-protection, testing the gun for reliability, etc without worry.

The +P rounds won't cause the gun to explode or anything, but will accelerate wear...as they will in all guns.

My recommendation would be to shoot mostly the standard pressure stuff, either handloads or factory most of the time and then the hot stuff just to test function, maintain confidence, and to see where it hits.

In the event that you decide to go with standard pressure rounds for protection, I'd recommend Federal's 124 gr Nyclad HP or their 115 gr JHP.

Both of these rounds have proven "effective" in my informal expansion tests and on various critters over the years.

All of my BHPs have Wolff conventional 18.5lb springs as well as Buffer Technology shock buffs and this does help prevent battering as well as rounding of the locking lugs. This setup works fine with standard pressure loads as well in my guns.

Best.
