Is it legal in the airport?

Hi to all! Its me again with another question.

I'll be going to the States (hopefully) pretty soon and I'm thinking of buying quick draw holster which I believe is cheaper there. Would I be breaking any law if I take it with me to the airport.

If I won't be able to make it, I'll ask my sister to buy one for me, if so, could she send it to me via DHL or whatever. Would that be legal?

Thanks, vega.

As far as I know, there are no restrictions on carrying or sending EMPTY holsters anywhere (though the presence of the holster may precipitate a search of your luggage for a gun-). I'd just keep it in it's factroy box or wrapper, should not be a problem. Happy trails, M2

There aren't any restrictions on holsters and you can carry an empty holster back with you. Stuff it into your luggage (a carryon may cause the $6-8 metal detector guards to panic).

When I travel I go to the baggage claim and tell them I have a firearm to check. I pull my Glock 21 out of whatever holster it is in, unload it, stuff it in the hard pistol case, snap on the combo lock and keep my holster on.

Much easier to slip on the gun at my destination.

The FAA has declared that the terminal is a sterile (no weapons) area. Sometimes the metal detector is inside the terminal. The baggage check may be too. Best bet is to unload in the mens room before entering the terminal and put the weapon in the case so that you are ready to declare an unloaded weapon. Note also that the FAA requires ammunition to be in original packaging. No loose rounds.
