Is it just me or not ?

The Niagara Falls, NY Veterans Memorial Monument is being built to honor veterans. I think that is wonderful.
The problem I have is that if any veteran wants his or her name on the monument they have to pay $125.00 pre construction or $175.00 post construction. I don't see why a veteran should have to pay for this, haven't our veterans paid the price already ? Should they have to pay to be recognized as a veteran ?
Maybe its just me, but I think this is wrong.
 
Normally it's the family members who pay to honor their vets. At least I was proud to pay to honor my dad in a similar fashion.

Stuff like that has to be funded in some fashion.
 
First, thank you to all of our Veterans and to all those that support them.

Sounds like a way to "out source" the actual gathering of the names so to speak. Instead of an employee getting the names together they will be submitted. So, maybe the intent isn't to nickle and diming the veterans as much as get the names. It is difficult to research military service and not miss someone too.

If it is a profit scheme then shame on them.
