Is it fake or real?

Hard to be certain with the quality of photo's in the listing. The original patina has been removed. All edges on the barrel are rounded. Some worked it over with fine grit paper?
Not a fake, just a ruined original.

Good point. If it is an original, and who can tell considering the condition it's in, it doesn't really matter because it's been so badly abused.

I've seen several original handguns in the past year or so that had been nickel plated at some point - two 1860 .44s, a Remington NMA and another that I can't remember what it was. It might be the original finish for that gun(I read somewhere that guns were plated to protect against salt air).
Depending on the reserve price it might be a decent gun to own.

Looks like an original.

Could be original. Only thing that looks a bit strange is the loading lever retainer. Seems to be a bigger piece of metal than normal (and wider dove tail cut for it). Maybe a repair if the original one failed in the past.

Loading lever latch is correct for the date of manufacture. Colt changed from the thin latch to the thick latch in 1862 when the New Model Navy came out.

It has all the hallmarks of a late 4th Model. Thick barrel lug, beveled loading cut, large round trigger guard, thick loading lever latch, cap notch. Only non-standard feature is the blade front sight that someone added.

it's NOT original. the gun MAY have all original parts, but it was plated well after the fact. it was not professionally refinished. it was plated over pitting.
that's why the lettering looks so good, they didn't buff the gun prior to refinish.
jmho.
