? about what ammo to practice with. i will be putting in an order for a Rem. 870hd and i want to know what are good rounds to practice with?

i will be using the SG at the indoor range, they say i can use slugs and buckshots.

i have used buckshots before and it has been over 8months since i have shot one of those.

i was wondering if it is a good idea to use dove ammo for a while and slowly add the buckshot or slugs?

i have a good amount of birdshots at the house. i will be doning the following when i get it.

put the shell in, pump, aim, and shoot.
i will be putting then individual so that i can get the pratice of shouldering it and reloading it. ( i shoot with my lefthand and pump with my right).

Birdshot can be good to practice with; but just know that the target has a bigger spread then it normally would have. Also, make sure you use a full choke. There will be a difference between recoil; just to let you know. The advantage is that birdshot is much cheaper than buck shot.

Birdshot works great for familiarization. I strongly suggest using oz loads or less starting out. Trust me on this.
