Other people end up with collectors items, I just end up with stuff thats hard to find leather for:(

Ran into the father of a friend of mine who is an FFL, he mentioned he was going to be getting in a bunch of used Centurians at pretty good prices (Now that I think of it he didn't say if they were 92's or 96's though).

I don't need a new gun, I can't afford a new gun, now is not the time to get a new gun but they have always interested me, if it's a good price and if it's being phased out...

Any thoughts on them in general?

I had one and like it a lot. I always thought the 92 was too long and the Centurian at 1/2" shorter was just right. Never had a problem with it, always 100%. I did trade it eventually though because I liked the Glock 19 better.

I own several 9mm pistols; G19, Sig 225, Taurus 92, Beretta Centurion and a recently purchased CZ75B. My favorite among these is My Beretta. My first shot out the box was right thru the middle of the ten ring at 40 feet. I consistently shoot my best with this pistol. Although the grip is on the wide side it feels very comfortable firing single action. I also think it is a better balanced pistol than the others. I've only fired around 1000 rounds thru it so far and the only malfunction was a failure to extract on a weak starfire round. The G19 also malfunctioned on a round from the same box of ammo, a failure to feed.

If your interested in one you should check one out, or the new Vertec. It has a flat backstrap and the grip is a little narrower. It feels great to handle. I'd bet it shoots well.

On a side note I've only put about 100 rounds thru the new CZ and I'm impressed with its accuracy. One day I'll take both the Beretta and the CZ to the range to compare. There probably won't be much of a difference.

Thanks for the information folks :) Having a G-17 and a G-19 both of which I love I'm good on the Glock front for now, so no worries there.

Doing some searching around I'm seeing a lot of concern over the long term durability of the whole 92/96 series in general.

Some say the 9mm are ok, while if you get a 40 you need to shoot over a basket to catch all the broken parts that will be falling off of it. Others say even in 9mm frames and locking blocks are going down after 5-10,000 rounds. Still others chime in that they are both stout guns that should last a lifetime in either caliber...

Hey Duck, I've got a 92F/S Centurion I'm selling so I can get a CZ75B. It's on the Handguns listing if you're interested.
