Is anyone familiar with this case?

I got this link from the discussion forum on Yahoo discussing how the Europeans were up in arms over the Williams execution. Someone said there was a case about a guy in Miss. who was sentenced to death for killing a police officer. Here is the link. Did it really happen this way and the guy is on death row as an innocent man, or is there more to this case? Anyone?

The reason I posted an unrelated website is to show that there are some who cry foul even when the guilty are uh, well, GUILTY! AFA the "agitator", lack of credibility. This IS the US, who cares what the euroelite think? No offense meant.

Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit, who in the past has been pretty credible, has been looking at this for the past few days, like with this initial post, but it appears that all he has been doing is some commentary (albeit good commentary) and linking to theagitator, so if that site is hot air then it just might be hot air. I don't know, I'd really rather see some others in the blogosphere or maybe the MSM latch on to this with some independent fact checking and verification before I get all riled up about it. It does sound plausible to me, however.

If true, it really is a travesty of justice, and needs correction by the Mississippi governor.

That is why I linked it here. The poster on Yahoo sounded convincing, but I didn't want to jump to emotional conclusions. I know that LEO's are an integral part of TFL, and wanted to know if they know more about this case than us laymen who rely on the "news." If taken at face value, it seems like a case for Maye's side, but what is the underlying case?
