Is a Colt Cobra .22 somewhat rare-or, more common?

I saw an older NIB Colt Cobra revolver in .22 caliber in a 3-inch barrel today, and I would like to know if this gun would have much collectibility? It does not have the shrouded ejector rod-and, this Cobra was made in 1970! Also, I would like to know if it might be considered somewhat rare-or, if these were just common guns? Please state your reasons and clarify this? Thanks!

A 3" Colt anything is rare! A NIB, Cobra in 22 lr is a rara avis. How much? The last one I saw on an auction went for over a thousand.

There are some things that make a Colt revolver rare, valuable, and collectible.
New In the Box.
3" barrels.
Small frame revolvers in .22LR.

To find an honest-to-God NEW in the box, 3" Colt Cobra in .22LR is guaranteed to have lights flashing, horns blowing, sirens wailing, and flares going off in any Colt collectors mind.

Barrel length?

I'm going to need to go back to see this Colt Cobra again, to measure the barrel length-as I have been trying to go by memory as to what I thought I had seen? At this point I'm sure of everything-EXCEPT for the barrel length?

How much less valuable or collectible or rare, would this Cobra be if it has the shorter(2" or 2-1/2"?)barrel length, in .22 caliber, being NIB?

As best I recall, the Cobra was only made with a 3" barrel in .22. Any other length would be a real oddity or an alteration. They are not common, and a NIB example would be worth a tidy sum... to the right collector.

Jim Watson:

Thank you very much-as your given information gives me more confidence, that I was correct about the barrel being 3-inches(I hope this proves to be true?) :)

As said, the 22 cobra was only manufactured in a 3-inch barrel. A glance will at the gun will confirm the length. They are NOT common, but as a gun they are probably not rare. But, a NIB 22 Cobra is very desireable! I'd buy it.

Doesn't it make you wonder why Colt no longer makes double-action revolvers? At least now you can have a brand new S&W M21 44 Special, fixed sights, 4 inch tapered barrel, but you have to take it with a round butt.
