Is $499 too much for an EX cond. TZ-75?

If you mean a used CZ-75 in any condition, then $499 is way over priced. If you really mean a TZ-75 then I don't know 'cause I don't what it is.

The forerunner of the Witness. Better, ostensibly, but still Tanfoglio. I found some rude moron at a place called Midwest Firearms who wanted that for this piece.

Ah ha. I didn't Tanfoglio ripped off the CZ pistol designations as well as the designs. If it's the same as an EA 9, then change "way over priced" in my first post to "extremely over priced". :)

Yes it is overpriced. I bought a TZ-75 new in 1986 for $300. When FIE stopped importing you could get them for $350 max.I saw today an original CZ-75, new for $399.........Mike

I thought the TZ-75 was a CZ-75 knockoff, just like the Witness, hence not valuble or collectible.

I'm not buying it, and never intended to. I just thought this guy was way, way, way off his rocker. He is selling it as though it were a rare collectible.

I asked him to come down on his Schmidt-Rubins (double anyone elses price, including Samco) and was called a "sicko" and a "weirdo," especially after I asked how many guns he's sold.

He is also selling matching garands for $2000+ and M-1 carbines for $1000-1200 (Inland, I believe).

He also has a $17,000 Luger (and it isn't a .45 either).

Let me see, $499 for a used cobby version of the later and much nicer Witness made by Tanfoglio. Figure it like this; NIB CZ75B with polymer finish, night sights, and one preban and postban mag for $349. With shipping and FFL transfer fee it should come to $389. Then you can go ahead and order 2 factory prebans from www.cz-usa.com for $49 (shipping included) and still save $20 off the TZ.

So many pistols, so little money.

There's an Army Surplus dealer around here I generally refer to as The Thief. The term is not trademarked or copyrighted, obviously. Feel free to borrow it to apply to this chap. PT Barnum said it best.

And while I've got my momentum up...

It annoys me greatly to see of the gouging some guys will try while sitting behind a "private sale" table at a gunshow. I have two vivid memories.

1) A sharpie claiming that a FEG hipower clone was in fact a Browning. ANIB, w/ 1 hicap, for a mere $450. I had to listen to his damned lies, as he attempted to overcome the protestations of some of the passersby, for a full weekend.

2) A bloodsucker who had a Remington 700ADL in .30-'06, w/ Tasco 3x9 mounted on generic Weaver rings on his table. He nearly duped a kid (early 20's is a kid to me) into trading his "hopelessly inferior" Browning A-Bolt in 7mmRemMag w/ Leupold fixed 4x scope even up. This was after the kid had dickered him down from his original demand for $50 bucks boot. I tell ya, I was at the point of stepping up to call him on his perfidy.
