Is 342pd lightest j-frame?

Basically, I'm looking to find out what the lightest j-frame is for a friend, whether of previous or current production, that fires .38 specials. My guess is that the revolver will only be loaded with the mildest standard pressure 38s. (e.g. the 110 gr Federal personal protection rounds).

+P and .357 mag considerations are completely out.

I don't really have a good grasp of the model numbering scheme, otherwise I could probably find it out myself on S&W's site.

Personally, I like the Centennial design--would like to recommend one, if it's the lightest.

Thanks

Basically yes!
The 342PD weight= 10.8oz, .38Special +P
The 337Ti weight=10.7oz, .38Special +P
But the lightest of the J-frame guns is the model-317LS, .22 LR, weight=9.9oz
I hope I was of some help. :)

If you like the centennial design (i.e., internal hammer), the 342PD is your lightest choice.

The model 337 titanium and model 317 ladysmith mentioned by Ken have external hammers.
