Being new to the Firing Line Forum, I'd like to put my two cents worth in on a topic I've seen being discussed, illegal alien border crossings. I missed the Minutemen news coverage, but I did catch the CNN coverage on the illegal immigration problem that Federal, State, and Local government refuses to take action on. The lack of action by government points to what a scam on U.S. taxpayers that Homeland Security is. I'd rather rely on a strict interpetation of the U.S. Consititution's 2nd Amendment that gives us all, and the Minutemen their right to protect themselves, their property, their neighbors, and their Country (ie. the borders of the US). By definition of the men who drafted the Constitution, the Minutemen would be considered militia, not vigilantes because the Constitution gives them all the authority they need! The main purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to provide the "People" with the "arms" they would need to protect their newly won freedom, and the inalienable rights of the individual found in the "Bill of Rights" (inalienable rights were defined as rights that government does not have the power to grant, nor to take away, but are rights that every individual is born with). The drafters of the Consitution had the wisdom to realize that they could possibly be trading the rule of a King for another form of rule that could ignore the will of the People and once again get out of control... exactly what we have today, an oversized out of control government run by "Corporate America", and an updated version of the "Robber Barons", like J.P. Morgan and John D. Rockafeller. The 2nd Amendment was to provide the People with the ability to reign in a rogue goverment by force if necessary, and return it's control to the People, where the majority rules, not the money of a few! Arms ownership, which includes firearms but not limited solely to them, and the right to carry arms (bear arms) is an inalienable right.

The only type of firearms laws that Constitution allows would be circumstances in which it would be legal or illegal to use a firearm or any other type of arm. "Cancelled carry permits" are illegal Constitutionally because they amount to government extorsion of a right you already have, and they discriminate against those who may find it financially pressing to obtain a permit. However, since illegal immigrents are not US citizens, therefore not bound to our Constitution by birth it would be legal to deny them the right to purchase, own, or carry any arms while in the United States until they legally become English speaking citizens. Illegals would have to rely solely on law enforcement for their protection... lots of luck.

The answer to the illegal immigration problem is simple. If you fail to follow the rules of entry into the US, and are caught here it is at your own risk! An illegal caught, depending on the circumstances could be fined, jailed, deported, even possibly killed. Those aiding an illegal should be jailed, and possibly deported. Individuals, or companies that hire illegals should receive heavy fines and jail time. Anyone illegals caught being a drug mule into the US depending on circumstances manditore imprisoned of ten years, then deported; if caught armed or fire exchanged to be killed on the spot! Now I ask you, would you want to be caught as an illegal with the above penalties, or be Juan who is legal, hiding cousin Julio from the authorities, or even some business using illegals for cheap labor?

Welcome to TFL!

I've spewed my guts on immigration so I won't go into that, but that's quite an opening shot! Glad to have ya.

KJM.
