Live fire looks interesting, and a good thing to use my guns for when I get them(at least one of them is looking for a problem, rather then being a solution), but, aside from plain target shooting and skeet, I know nothing.

Could someone explain/give links these, and how they work? And if there are any in my area(Alamagordo New Mexico)?

Gifted,

For International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), check their web site at:
www.idpa.com . I think the url for United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) is www.uspsa.com.

How is Alamagordo these days? I was born at Holloman AFB in '55. Left in '59 when Dad PCS'ed for Saudi, then Germany. It's probably changed alot since my brief stay there.

Good Luck, RG

It's hot. I don't really know what Holloman was like back then, I'd guess a whole lot of new construction, and they're replacing the housing, which was probably there when you were there are the major changes.

I was at Spangdahlem for my first base. A bit of a climate change.

Very nice website, very interesting. I'll have to look up more.

Gifted,

I don't doubt it's hot. In my living room is a sofa that the folks bought while we were at Holloman. It has been re-covered many times, but if you sit down on it really hard you'll probably still get some of that damn sand out of it  .

At the last minute Dad's orders got changed for Saudi to hardship tour, so Mom and I lived at her parent's farm in Missouri. In 1960 Dad was transfered to Spangdahlem, where we joined him. Back then there were warning posters all over school showing what not to touch. They were still finding alot of WW2 ordanance in the area off the base. We were there when the Berlin Wall went up. Lot of alert sirens during that time.

Kinda interesting how we've been to the same places at very different times.

Did you find any clubs around there (Alamagordo)?

Best, RG

No clubs yet. Not having a car makes things kind of difficult. Funny thing is, I was at Spang for two years before coming here. This forum is surprising me.
