Has anyone bought a gun after finding it on the net? I found a 74 Belgian Hi Power at a good price. Would like to buy it, but nervous.

Hello acp Mikey; FYI I purchased a Smith &
Wesson Model 28 over the net, back in Oct.
of 99. It was advertised as being 98% NRA
excellent; when she arrived she was closer
to being 99.5% NRA excellent. I might mention, I purchased this weapon from
Mount Vernon Gun & Coin located in Mount
Vernon, Illinois. Good folks to do business
with.

Mikey,

Are you nervous about the quality or about the procedure? Just make sure you follow the rules-it will need to be shipped to an FFL if the seller is from another state. As for the quality....caveat emptor. I've heard horror stories about botched deals. It sounds like Ala Dan had a good experience, though.

Support your local dealer.

acp Mikey,

I have bought and sold over the net several times. A couple of suggestions...

Contact the seller by e-mail and phone if possible. If you don't get a warm fuzzy about the deal and the dealer LET IT GO!

Try to get a reasonable inspection period, say 3 days, to check the cosmetics or have a smith evaluate it. If the seller is serious they shouldn't object.

ALWAYS go dealer to dealer for the transfer. It protects both of you! It may cost a little more sometimes but the peace of mind is worth it. There is a paper trail straight back to the seller if something is amiss.

Just my opinion...

Mikey
