International gun debate: NRA/IANSA

For the first time ever in history these two strong advocates for their cause, face off, before a live audience in the historic Library of King's College London.
The Great Gun Debate will be a TV debut for the Library of King's College London. Both Rebecca Peters from the IANSA and Wayne LaPierre from the NRA will speak on the topic of Gun Control. This will be a first in history where strong advocates from both sides come together and speak before a live audience.

Well, I do not waste money on cable or any other subscribed television so I won't get to watch this one.

Mr. LaPierre is mistaken on one point noted on the linked page. The U.N. is not "under influence of gun control advocates". The U.N. is the umbrella institution with an agenda for small arms control, including the elimination of virtually all of them in private hands on the model of the current United Kingdom.

Debate. Ha! Debate implies people willing to consider facts and evaluate a situation fairly. Virtually all folks watching this have chosen sides and just want to watch their side kick butt. Save the money.

Hmmmm...

Why are they debating in the UK? Personally, I don't give a s*** what Europe does. If they vote to melt down all guns into a statue of liberty to give to Iran, hey, that's why I'm on this side of the ocean.

There is no debate as far as I'm concerned...only a contingent of people threatening the basic human right to self-defense and the US constitutional guarantee to keep and bear arms.

I won't be watching this debate. People who work to aid and abet criminal victimization shouldn't be afforded a legitimate stage from which to advocate their drivel.

Don't think that, just because this debate is happening overseas, it can't affect us in the USA. Why do you think the NRA is getting involved? IANSA is not a European organization, they are a NGO working with the United Nations to enact global restrictions on small arms.

So you only care for the human rights of Americans?

OK, maybe I came off a bit hard. But, why is the NRA debating gun control in Europe? Why aren't they debating the VPC/MMM/whatever else they call themselves right here in America?

And why is it on Pay Per View? That could very well determine that it is going to be watched by those who have already made a decision, and are just watching to see their side kick butt? Not to mention the people that don;t have cable, or live in a n area where there is no pay per view.

My understanding is that the debate is PPV in order to comply with the McCain-Feingold First Amendment Abrogation Act.

NRA International?

"OK, maybe I came off a bit hard. But, why is the NRA debating gun control in Europe? Why aren't they debating the VPC/MMM/whatever else they call themselves right here in America?"

The short answer is that the NRA has entered this debate because they need to. The war against gun control has gone global. Look at the IANSA web site

http://www.iansa.org/

and you'll be glad the NRA is there to try to set the record straight. Oh, and they debate VPC/MMM plenty, too.

Ought to be a weird debate. The usual NRA line is about personal freedom and personal rights in support of a free society.

The UN mandate against guns is largely about gun smuggling the how this is a major reason Africa is such a crap-hole. And they might have a good point about providing Somalis and Sudanese with super cheap arms and ammo.

It would be nice to talk about having gun rights on a global scale, but that only works when there is a basis for all the other human rights. Armed society can be a stabilizing force, or the precussor to civil war and genocide. When a country's strongest political force is tribal affiliation and there is no law, the people don't look at force as the last possible option, like we do. The society must have a mandate of freedom - guns alone will only enslave.

The UN's arms control efforts are only about illegal smuggling on their facade. The real goal is world-wide registration so that firearms can be better tracked and controlled. Make no mistake, civilian arms in the hands of Americans are indeed a target for many involved in the small arms conference and other UN efforts. There are those who are really concerned about mass arms sales fueling conflict, but frankly their efforts need to be directed at NATIONS, not individuals. NRA members are not arming Sudanese militia, the Sudanese government is, and other nations are arming the Sudan. Frankly most of the arms are the product of perfectly legal factory-to-government sales. If you want to stop warfare like this, disarm the governments and their so-called militias first. The citizens are much less of a problem, whether it's some guy in Yemen who has an AK to protect his family from thieves or me with my AK in Alaska.

Unfortunately, the UN has no intention of disarming kleptocrat governments because the UN is made up of kleptocrats.

WATCH THE U.N. GUN DEBATE ON PAY-PER-VIEW!

A Special Message from NRA
Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre:
Tune in to iN DEMAND Pay-Per-View and
Watch the U.N. Gun Debate!

Make plans now to watch iN DEMAND Pay-Per-View on October 12 for my 90-minute debate with international gun-ban ringleader Rebecca Peters. And after the debate, be sure to vote on whether the U.S. Senate should approve the U.N.'s gun-ban treaty!

Rebecca Peters almost single-handedly brought gun confiscation to Australia and to England, and is now the most feared gun-banner in the world. With more than 500 gun control organizations under her command worldwide, and with the unlimited financial backing of billionaire George Soros, she's determined to make gun confiscation a reality here in the United States- through a U.N.-backed treaty that would be binding on every American citizen.

You and every American gun owner need to watch this debate-and see first-hand this enormous and very real threat to our Second Amendment rights.

Tune in on October 12, and you'll see how gun banners have taken over the U.N.-and how they intend to infect America with their anti-gun poison. You'll see for yourself how the biggest coalition of gun-ban organizations ever assembled on earth is working with the U.N. and with U.S. politicians to take away your rights.

You'll learn the truth about George Soros - the foreign-born American financier who is spending his personal fortune to advance the global gun-ban movement as well as elect John Kerry to the White House on November 2. And you'll see for yourself why U.N. gun-ban extremists will be rejoicing around the world if John Kerry is elected President.

To prevent our nation from living under this soon-to-be-drafted United Nations gun ban treaty in the years ahead, every American needs to know what the U.N. intends to do with our Second Amendment rights-and every gun owner needs to watch this debate.

Please tune in to this historic debate. See the threat for yourself. And invite your gun-owning friends, neighbors, and co-workers to watch with you.

I promise you, you'll never look at the U.N. in the same way again-and you'll get the information you need to help defeat this U.N.-backed effort to ban our guns. Thanks in advance for watching-and for Voting!

SHOWTIME: Tuesday, October 12, 9:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., EST
