Interesting study on gun protectants....

I came across this online, for sure the most exhaustive- and reasonably scientific study/comparison of every brand of commercial gun protectant, and then some.

It's an interesting read. Up 'till now, Hornady's One Shot dry lube has only been used on the press and some mechanicals on my bench. Just added more to my Brownell's cart...

He has a pic of food injected in his long complicated test.

I do long complicated emails about guns with pics of chips on the mill and spam everyone I know.
The only thing that gets responses is when I include pictures of my food.

What do you remember about his test?
Frog Lube , Hornady One shot, and WD-40 specialist did well on preventing rust and static friction.
What else do you remember?
They were slicing up hot dogs.
Are they going to have beanie weenie for dinner?

Good post. Tester must of had a lot of time on hand.

I am not surprised of superior results of WD 40. I have been using the stuff for 50 years and my father used it since conception. It has always protected and lubed well for us. Never saw a need to try anything else.

Same with Hoppes #9 to remove copper and clean bores. Only chemicals I ever use despite many advertisers saying their products are superior.

Both WD 40 and #9 have been subject to criticism on forums as inferior products. Claims which I consider false.

I believe the WD40 tested was NOT the normal stuff available for decades, but the rather new anti corrosion formula.
