Interesting pro-2nd Am. Denny's comercial

I was watching TV and happened to see a Denny's restaurant commercial that mentioned "In America...we have the right to bear arms." by a granny sitting in a booth with her family.

It was rather blatant.

Never really cared for Denny's, but they will get more of my business.

I don't think I would put too much stock in the commercial that denny's is pro gun. Unless they have had a major change recently, a google search brings up a bunch of instances where Denny's has not allowed carry in tHeir stores.

I saw a shorter version that didn't include the RTBA line.

And although I hate to be a cynic, isn't the point of the commercial saying that their hamburger is as important as the freedoms that they mention? I found it a bit offensive, to be honest.

It was a little bit offensive, especially the little girl saying bear arms while holding a toy bear. But then again just the mention of the right to bear arms may have a little positive psychological effect on anti-gunners or neutral thinkers. Probably not though.

And, it makes RKBA somewhat ordinary.

Which is one of the things we should be shooting for (oops), I mean aiming... (nope), one of the things we should be trying to make happen.

Best,

W

I like Denney's....forgot about them for awhile, but I'm going to make it a point to start eating there again.

GREAT commercial -- gets that point in in a sorta comical way that anti-gunners won't be too offended by. Cute, but still meant to convey a self-evident truth folks. 'bless 'em.

And the food? May I just say, that the Buffalo Chicken Strips appetizer is really good-n-plenty. Going to Denny's is a pilgrimage for me. There are only two anywhere near my neck of the woods, actually a long ways off. As I'm in one of those areas tomorrow I'm going now!

Might need a turkey melt too. And a Cherry Coke. And...

...to diet.

Denny's may be playing the patriotic card, but until they come up with something so magnificent, so extravagant, so...American as a bacon sundae, I'm not listening.

Any country that can come up with such a culinary masterpiece is truly blessed. I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about it.

"Saw the commercial again this afternoon, noticed that the pro-2nd amendment segment was cut."

That happens often when they play a commercial for smaller time slot. It's not uncommon and not necesarilly any sort of statement.

I don't really see it as a RBKA or Pro 2A.
The old lady says, "the right to keep and bear arms" and at the end of the spot, the little girl looks at her teddy bear and questions "...bear arms??"

It's a joke and a punch line, simple as that.

Jo, I disagree. They could have chosen any number of non 2nd Amendment items in their pro-America ad. A little comic relief doesn't negate it, only defuses some of the hate mail and boycotts they could otherwise face from every lunatic fringe vast leftwing conspiracy group. Give them a little credit.

They really went out on a limb to do this. Don't think the suits at their HQ (many of whom are relatively new) didn't see this, know this, discuss this, and proactively weigh the risks and rewards and adopt this commercial.

Additionaly, full commercials are usually cut from 1:00 minute to 30 and 15 second version airings soon after the initial launch and from the beginning depending on the cost of the daypart they are airing in -- they have to edit versions and this recurring theme in this particular commercial would be a natural to remove.

I don't know how many smart people can be fooled by such a small and fairly disingenuous 2A comment by a comapny that has been noted for being anti-gun for years and believe that it is a pro 2A commericial when it is nothing more than ruse to get your cash.
