So happened to come across this article and thought it was rather interesting. I know it is preaching to the choir here but maybe you would like to spread it around, i dont know.

I've never heard of The Daily Caller but from the author's opening paragraph and the comments it seems to be a liberal website. So it was interesting to read an opinion article about why the author is against gun-control laws.

Basically, the author cites a Florida State University professor who was an advocate for gun control laws but through research and testing realized that gun control laws are not affective against fighting crime. The author admits he is ok with some gun control laws like banning drum magazines but what he is arguing against is outright banning of firearms. It is interesting that he points out he would not be against gun control laws if they were effective, but since they are not effective, banning firearms would only negate the positives of firearm ownership.

Although I'm pointing out his political preference (please Mods bear with me), I wanted to point that not every liberal is anti-gun and that there are pro-gun advocates that are fighting gun control laws even after the tragedy in Ct.

Btw, he is taking a sort of beating in the comment section of his article.

There is nothing in there that has not been said before many , many times . I do not mean that as a critique but more as an observation . Both sides have argued and counter argued those points in to the ground . There was a thread a few weeks ago here at TFL that talked about changing the language we on the gun side should use . It was about if we should stop using the word weapon and use firearm or gun instead . I don't want to get in to that debait again but the point is the same . Should we the pro gun group as a hole speak with one voice-ish , one language and come up with new ways to get are points across rather then regurgitating the same old things . It seems to me that the other side has worked hard on refining there message and I think it's time for us to do the same .

If this was not to the OP point or high jacks the thread I'm sorry .

My wife works at a grade school. We were watching the broadcast news and they were hammering away on multiple stories wedging in comments about the desperate need for more gun laws as if EVERYONE must surely see the need.

Wife says at school no one is suggesting more gun laws, in fact the principal suggested at least one faculty member or administrator should be armed. According to her the schools are talking about better security doors, inter-classroom comms, and arming the staff.

The clamor is purely hype from some politicians and a lapdog press. Real people want real, practical protection for their kids, not yet another law that does nothing to protect anyone but the perp.
