FOR THE RECORD

Here are a few interesting statistics from our breakdown map of
counties won by George Bush and Albert Gore
(http://www.federalist.com/e2000.html) as compiled by law professor
Joseph Olson. The last item is, perhaps, the most telling.

Counties won by Bush: 2,434
Counties won by Gore: 677

Population of counties won by Bush: 143 million
Population of counties won by Gore: 127 million

Square miles of country won by Bush: 2,427,000
Square miles of country won by Gore: 580,000

States won by Bush: 29
States won by Gore: 19

And now for the most remarkable finding....

Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Bush: 0.1
Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Gore: 13.2

Don't get me wrong, I love the outcome, BUT...

The stats I got were:
Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Gore: 13.2
Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Bush: 2.1

These stats are CREDITED to Professor Joseph Olson of the Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul Minnesota. He does exist, and is on the board of the NRA, but whether these stats are his, or just internet hype, I couldn't say...

To add to your other stats, and put it in visual perspective, see http://www.boortz.com/themap.htm

I'd LOVE to see stats like these, AND MORE, but I have to know they are credible before I put too much faith in them. Hey, how about "Number of people on WELFARE in each canditate's counties?" ;)

Onslaught, I believe your numbers are correct.

However, I called Dr. Olson, and he is not the source. He is a pro-self defense / RKBA attorney / professor, and he believes the stat's to be correct based upon his knowledge of criminology.

However, he believes the source of the stat's was former Sheriff Jay Printz of Hamilton, MT. I've tried to contact Sheriff Printz to verify, but was not successful.

I'll bet the message is true, but it would be nice to tie this down a bit tighter.
