This popped up on swapgiant. I am not in Ohio and don't have the cash, but it does look interesting with the set trigger. My impression was set triggers were popular from maybe 1850 to 1950, so it seems odd to have one on a muzzle loader.

The history of the set trigger would be something I'd be interested in as well.

The earliest one I've read about was in the 1850s iirc.

Set triggers were used quite a bit in the 1700s on flintlocks. Not odd at all to have them on a muzzleloader, that is where they originated.

You still find them on modern day Hawkin Rifles !

At the start of the muzzleloader revival in the 1970s many rifles had set triggers. They were terrible !! Unset about 11 lbs and set less than 1 lb !

Hello, You guy's need to read some better gun books! Set triggers were used on early crossbows & Whelocks.
