Interested in an AK

I've got a couple of AR's that I enjoy shooting and was considering getting an AK too. Obviously the 7.62 is the most common choice and the 5.45 is quite common these days too. Seeing that my AR's are chambered for .223/5.56, is there any reason I shouldn't get a AK chambered in .223/5.56 also?
 
I'd go with another caliber for versatility. Also, no offense to those that own a .223, I think the AK platform negates the benefits of the 5.56 round. I'd go with a 7.62 Arsenal or Vector, shop around though. Finding a good ak can be an ordeal. There's a lot of crap to sift through, although the crap (WASR-10) has worked pretty great for me as well, just not as nicely. Nothing wrong with a WASR provided you can inspect it first.
 
Look at the AR 180's....It's the ergonomics of an AR, with similar functionality to an AK and is chambered in 5.56mm...

Friend of mine has 2, never fired, but doesn't have the boxes or paperwork, that he is looking to sell soon...
 
Arsenal! the 5.45x39 ammo is super cheap. I picked up both Arsenals. I like the 5.45x39 cause you can store away ammo in spam cans on the cheap for a rainy day. I stopped buying 223 for my AR the Arsenals are my go to guns now.
 
This isn't my thread but I would like to know where to get an at180 new. Personally I would check out Atlantic arms website. They have everything, I would love an arsenal if the funds were available right now. They have some inter arms aks that look good and I saw a good video on one

I highly recommend Arsenal. Last year I purchased an SGL21 in 7.62x39. I just wanted the option of shooting a larger caliber. I love it. Worked perfectly right out of the box. It's a nice compliment to my AR15. I like the arsenals because they're quality constructed and only cost about 1/3 of most nato 7.62 rifles.
 
Again, the most critical thing is- what is your price range?

I picked up an AES-10B RPK a couple weeks back- cosmetically is has zero issues. Mag well was a little sharp, but a small file fixed that in a snap.
