the Franchi 48AL in sub-gauges. Funny though, you can buy original Browning A-5's for a few less bucks. The Franchi smoothed out the rough edges. Franchi is making some of the best autoloaders on the market...

I've had sundry buddies with AL 48s over the years, generally a happy bunch.

The lighter weight means mo' kick, there's no free lunch in Shotgunland.

But, a slick little featherweight auto that's tres reliable and lasts longer than a bad reputation, well one can forgive a little recoil.

The discontinued 12ga model is a hoot to shoot. It's a real fun gun on 5 stand, but my scores aren't as good with it, probably because it was only lent for a few rounds. I haven't tried the other gauges.

Slugo, IIRC, all the ones I've hunted near were 20s, and certainly all the ones I've shot. IC chokes, universally.

One worthy had hollowed out the stock on one after fitting to move the balance point more to the muzzle. His contention was a very light shotgun needs a muzzle heavy feel to avoid Whippyness.

They have a 28 gauge model. Hmmmm......
