i was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the interarms mark x 7mm mauser with the mannelicher stock. i bought one on a whim for 300 bucks. it's in excellent condition and is pretty accurate. it's got alexandria virginia and an england address stamped on it along with serial numbers and a few funny looking little symbols, one resembling a snowflake. it has another random number stamped on it as well. 7x57 is stamped on the barrel. i can't find any info on it at all. i'm curious about it's value and history. it also has a 'flattened' handle on the bolt. any info would be appreciated. oh and it also does not say mark x anywhere on it. i was told that's what it is

Well, the rifle is a Mark X (roman numeral ten) built on the commercial Zastava Mauser action and it was imported into the states by Interarms. The mannlicher stock is way cooler than the half stock, a 7X57 is way cooler than an '06, the spoon bolt handle is way cooler than a knob, and the low 300.00 price is the frosting on the cake. Great buy!

If the trigger's adjustable, you have "The Marquis Carbine".
If it has a double-set trigger, it's the "Continental Carbine".
None of the above would indicate it's the "Mannlicher Carbine"

Only rifle's stamped "Mark X" are Yugo Zavasta's - all others were "Whitworth's", made in England, as the stamping on your rifle suggests.

I'm confused

Hey PetahW.

Can you elaborate on that a bit? And does made in England equate to assembled in England?

I'm looking in my Blue Book and that does not help either.

Manchester England appears on both my rifles, as well as the zastavia stamp,

no mention of Whitworth.

AFAIK, due to British import/proof laws, Zavasta was required to stamp their name on every action imported into GB.

The OP didn't mention a Zavasta ID stamp, which indicates it isn't a Zavasta/import.

The only other boltgun made under the Interarms aegis from England was the Whitworth (brand) Mauser 98 derivative, so stamped or not.

Whatever you got, it's a smokin deal. If'n you don't want it gimme a crack at it :D.
But seriously we need some pics, I think those Mannlicher stocks are so cool
That 7x57 is light & handy and a killer. I have two Spanish mausers in that caliber. awesome !

Thanks for the responses. When I try to post pics it says I don't have permission to do so. I'd love to show some pics, it's a beautiful gun. I never buy on impulse but I knew it had to be worth the 300. Does anyone have a guess on it's actual value assuming it's in excellent condition?

got it

PetahW, understood.

As far as the Mark X's go, my '06 Mannlicher stocked version is a tack driver, as long as you feed it....of all things, ...200 gr Nosler Partitions!! I put a Kick-Eeze pad, and load them down a tad.

My Mini-Mark X .223 is a bit squirrley, but works as a utility rifle around the place.

I have owned my Mannlicher 7x57 Mark X since 1981 and is my only hunting rifle. It has accurately killed every deer from 60-500 yards without the deer traveling more then 100 yards from the shot. It is accurate, solid, and the only rifle I will ever hunt with. I use 140 Grain Nossler Partition and the 4x4 I just took a week ago had a front cavity completely liquified. My Mark X is invaluable and no value can be placed on it! My daughter also used it this season but was not successful so she will use next year. I did remove all the glossy finish off the stock and used only True Oil for the finish. I also replaced the butt plate with a Kick-Eeze Pad.

The Mark X Mannlicher is one of the items on my "bucket list of guns to own". It's just a sexy looking rifle and the 7X57mm chambering is PERFECT for the type. I've owned a couple of Mark X rifles and loved them, but I'm a fan of the Mauser action.

SOMEWHERE around here in my collection of gun magazines, there's an issue of Rifle magazine (I believe) that has a fairly indepth article on that very rifle. Seems like (according to the article) that those little full stocked gems shoot a lot better than they have any business doing.

Sounds like you stole it for 3 bills.

Look for something like it on the gun auction websites to get an idea about the market value.

I have a Mark X that I bought back in the '70's because I wanted a new Mauser type rifle. It has always made me happy. Mine's in .30-06, but I have always wanted a 7X57.
