Inter arms 25/06

Got a InterArms 25/06 on a trade this AM. Mauser action, blued, camo-syn. Stock
25/06 is not one of my favorite cartridges.I'll probably trade it off but I kind of
like the feel of this rifle. This is just a deer rifle type with 3x9 scope. I have 25/06
dies but no bullets. Any of you 25/06 nuts have good load for it. Will use it on
Coyotes mainly. I've got 50 once fired and 10 factory loads with gun. That's how
much it's been shot.

Not a fan of the 25-06 either, but I'm sure it will work. I do really like the Interarms rifles though. Lots of them are used for the basis of some working custom rifles. If I got it cheap enough I'd consider a nice barrel in a cartridge I did like along with a better stock.

Nice snag! Interarms MK X action is a close copy (some even say they are buillt on machines purchased from FN) of the FN commercial actions, which were/are considered among the best Mauser actions available. The MK X is not nearly as well finished as the FN was, but still is a very good action to build around. As suggested above, you could always rebarrel to a caliber you like, then restock it and have a very nice Mauser-actioned sporting rifle.

25-06

Smokin caliber! Give it a chance before you write it off. I know someone in Wyoming that has taken more than a dozen Antelope and at least a half dozen Muleys,
some out past 350 yds, he swears by Nosler 120 Partitions, don't know what powder though. I never got to shoot it, but it's a nice handleing Rem 700.

Why would someone not like a 25-06. Near as fast as a 257 WEATHERBY. Second to a 270s accuracy. Smokes a 280 for speed. Nice grain weight jacketed bullet selection. Brass is easy to come by. Yup this 25-06 (nut) does have a very accurate loading for the 100 gr. but the recipe is primarily used for animals its hunter can eat.

Very much doubt an Interarms anything came with a synthetic stock. Interarms has been gone since 1998 and never used synthetics that I've ever seen.
Wouldn't be displeased with a .25-06 myself. Sort of a .270 Jr. But you have to work up the load. I'd be thinking 100 grain Matchkings for Wiley.
"...animals its hunter can eat..." No reason not to eat Wiley. You just need a recipe or two.

Probably an ordered action with synthetic ordered secondary..,
T. Oheir why would I eat a coyote???? Id almost pay to see you eat one...;)

Second to a 270s accuracy.

Wow, that's a slap in the face. While the MkX 25/06 barrel I had once was not a "one hole wonder", it was certainly no slouch. Downside was that barrel was 22" and lost some velocity vs. the others I have w/24" barrels. The Savage 110FP in my rack will shoot cloverleafs @ 100 yards with Remington 100 grain factory loads and has rung the bell of numerous coyotes and a few bucks.

Whitworth in Manchester UK took those same Crvena Zastava actions and polished them a bit to get rid of the rough factory marks. They were made up ino -- and are -- very nice rifles some of which were distributed by Interarms as their top of the line Mark X rifles.

I have a 7x57 Mauser Mannlicher like this that was put together with a synthetic stock.

I like the 117 sierra pro hunter or the 115gr ballistic tip. I just sold a gun that had a 1-12" twist it liked 75gr vmax at 3800 fps. Devestating on yotes. I have found the 25-06 to be finikley to load for but It is very accurate when you find what your rifle likes.

IMR4831 with 100 gr. Nosler BT. 3300 ft/sec and sub 1 inch groups. Took a large muley doe this fall at less than 100 yards. She turned 360 degrees and fell right there. Made a heck of a smack but passed clear through the chest behind her shoulders. Lungs were mush.

No reason to not like the 25-06. Plenty of gun for anything less than elk or moose.

Watched a show on the Sportsmans channel last night where a 17 yr old girl took down a Bull Elk with a 25-06 at 276 yds. I have had 2 of them and may want a 3rd. In fact my 1st gun was an Interarms.

I love my Ruger #1 25-06,
it likes 117 grn BT Hornady and 48 grn IMR 4350
Over the last 17 yrs that combination has dropped many white tails with one shot

25/06

I have a 243, 257, and a 270. I don't doubt a 25/06 will kill, I've killed deer with
a 25/20. I'm just not crazy about cal. Most any cartridge will work if fired out of
a accurate rifle. I have found that 25/06 is finicky cal. I have not shot rifle yet.
The more I think about it I should trade it off. I bought bullets but I can use them in my 257. Every time I start to reduce rifle rack I get sucked into another.
Matter of fact got another today on trade 270 Win short mag. Not even going to
tool up for this one!
