Instant Check

Does anyone have any suggestions on who I can call and complain to about the so called "instant check" being down for the last 2 days? I have been unable to purchase a Para-Ordnance P14-45 Limited due to the system being down. I have contacted my State Senators Rick Santorum and Arlen" NOT PROVEN" Spector but I was thinking that there was someone else I could contact. Thanks in advance

Welcome to The Firing Line, gjviii! :)

You can complain to your Senators, your Representatives, the FBI, the ATF, your state police, just about anyone you want. Unfortunately, this infringement is all too common. I doubt that complaining will help anything. So much for "A right delayed is a right denied." :(

The bright side to this is that if your dealer doesn't get an answer within 3 days, you get your P14-45 LDA with no further delay. :D

YMMV from state to state.

According to Alan Korwin http://www.gunlaws.com , the system was down a full eight days last year.

Do you think that if some sort of South-Central LA unrest happens again that a do-gooder FBI bureaucrat might shut down the system so as to "not add to the blood-letting"?

It was working yesterday

I was bad and bought a rifle (it was calling to me really). Normally I get put on delay and I pick up the gun a few days later. Yesterday my dealer & I had our usual chuckle about my being a terrorist and being on delay. About 5 min after I left the shop my cell phone rang and there was a shocked voice on the other end telling me to come back and pick it up. Should have bought a lottery ticket too. :)

I am going to be calling again today to see if it is up and running. The gun shop owner was told by a State Rep that the files were being updated. I haven't bought a gun since the law was passed so I was ready to show my CCW permit and take it home. I think I'll call again and get more information. I wonder if they can shut it down state by state

Thanks for the info
