Installing Hogue Handall on Rugers

I am not the most patient person in the world and I got quite peeved trying to slip the Hogue grip onto my P-95. When I pulled up one side, the other slipped off. But I finally got it on.

Before putting the Handall onto my P-97, I first applied a little hand lotion on the gun. This helped a great deal. If you are going to do this, try putting a little lubricant on the gun first. I assume that the Ruger grip is one of the larger ones and that the Handalls will go on some other models more easily.

Thanks for the insight. I had considered the 'handall'. I took my P94 to the gun shop, could not get the grip started and left it there. Patience is not my strong suit either. Hogue puts out a one piece molded grip to replace the factory issue on the P94. I'm looking for a set locally to see how 'friendly' their installation is. May reconsider the 'handall' for the P95 with a little bit of lubricant as you suggest.

Talcum powder also works...

But the best approach I've found is to drop the Handall in a pot of boiling water and let it cook for a minute or two. (Cut off the heat when you drop it in.)

Then pour the water down the sink and grab the Handall while its still hot and VERY FLEXIBLE and STRETCHY, and pull it onto your gun.

Wish I read these tips 2 years ago when I put one on my P95. got it on, but with great difficulty. May cut it off and try another for an even better fit.

Why would you want to make the grip any bigger? Skateboard tape on the front and back straps is the way to go.

My son tried one of those slip on grips for awhile until he handled and shot my 95.

I put a Handall Jr. on my Kahr P9 just to be able to shoot it at all as the grip was way to small. The advice I got on this board that worked very well was hair spray. While wet, it lubed the grip enough so the thing slid right on. When it dried it helped hold it in place.
