Installing Elite 98 trigger on MK9

Has anyone had experience with do-it-yourself installation of the Elite98 trigger upgrade for a Kahr MK9?

I'd like to try it but I don't know what I'm getting into and I don't want to ruin my gun! OTOH, it sure would be nice to save a few bucks.

Thanks.

Big, looking at the exploded view on their website I don't see any difference in the elite trigger. I've had occasion to disassemble and assemble a coupld of Kahrs. It's not that difficult. LOOKS, LOOKS like it would be a simple replacement. George

George: thanks for your help. I just got an email reply by the Kahr sales rep, Faye Newcomb, and she verified that parts for the Elite Trigger are $25. I agree with your assessment (with implied caveat) about the installation. I'll order the parts and give it a try. I'll post back later with the results.

Ain't as easy as it looks...

After working on my K9, and then wanting an Elite trigger, I'd just send the gun in to Kahr for the installation. The trigger return spring is no fun at all to pre-tension and keep in position while drifting the trigger pin back into place. You'll have the best luck using a smaller-diameter slave pin.;)

Gewehr98: Thanks for the reply and tip about the slave pin. I better get on the horn and talk to a Kahr tech before I make a final decision.

i put an elite trigger in my mk9 last year. the most difficult part is pressing out the trigger pivot pin, as it is very tight in the frame. i made a small press from a modified gear puller. i don't reccomend using a hammer and punch. the pin has one small end and one large end, so it is easy to tell which way to take it out.
i found the elite trigger to be 100% better. plse e-mail me if you have any more questions

I have an MK40 and contemplated the same upgrade. However, after talking to a couple of people who had tried it the concensus was that you will probably need a pin press to the the trigger pin out. Pounding it with a hammer and drift did not work. If you have access to or can borrow a pin press then the rest should be relatively easy.

Let us know how you make out.
