Innovate and Recycle: Kitty Litter Range Bucket

There comes a time when the economic downturn affects us all, or when we get a clue about the notion of recycling...or at least finding innovative uses for things otherwise considered usefulness-challenged after their primary purpose is completed. Yesterday was an eye-opening experience for me.

Sure, there have been great innovations in the past where seemingly common objects have been transformed into internet hero stories, such as the tactical wheelbarrow. So yesterday, I was introduced to the Kitty Litter Range Bucket. Not having a holster or suitable gun rug for his Ruger, this shooter took tactical tupperware to a new level by using a spent kitty litter bucket as his range bag for the IISHOT1000 match. While the information on the side boasted of clumping capabilities, he boasted that the container held his gun, ammo, was rain proof (and it was a rainy day), and had a convenient carry handle. It could be set on the wet/muddy ground without concern of moisture soaking through. It functioned VERY WELL for the job!

On exploring the issue further, I have come to decide that the squarish shape, design to hold heavy weight, and design to be stackable, makes kitty litter buckets amazing range gear and even potentially handy "go boxes" (pun intended). As demonstrated, they function well beyond just being the handy spent brass buckets for which we often use them.

Not to be limited by just superior clumping power kitty litter containers, there are many such containers that contain other materials such as laundry soaps, dry food products, etc.

There was also discussion amongst match participants that the Kitty Litter Range Bucket made for quite the deceptive concealed carry man purse, giving it certain bizarre tactical applications that I failed to fully comprehend...

The best part is, they make a definite statement.

Functional. Practical. Stylish.

It may not be for everyone, but certain shooters can pull off the look...as seen here...

Who is that stunningly handsome bearded fellow standing next to that unorthodox but impressively functional (and colorful) piece of range gear? :D

There's another benefit to carrying guns & ammo in a recycled kitty litter container. I know that if I were attacking someone and they reached their hand into the kitty litter bucket they were carrying, I wouldn't wait around to see what they were going to pull out. Would you?

These are also the absolute best thing I've found for storing brass in; the covers snap on and off, they come with integral carry handles, and they stack neatly under the reloading bench.

Never thought of using them as a range bucket, but I've got at least eight in service as brass buckets, loaded ammo cans, slings, and (of course) the dead holster bin. They seal decently, and are easy to access with the hinged lids.

Having a steady supply of these almost makes the cat worth keeping. :D

Oh no, it doesn't scream GUN! It screams many things and none of them are GUN!

I expect John to be handing these out to each of the match entrants at the IIISHOT1000 in 2010.

Handing them out???

These containers will hold over 1000 rounds of ammunition, 7 magazines, a semi-auto pistol, UPLULA loader, hearing & eye protection and still have enough room for other assorted and essential range gear. The polymer comfort grip handle comes standard as does the colorful design on the sides of the container. When not in transport, the carrying handle folds down to the side and the container may be used as a convenient seat or it may be placed on the shooting bench and used as a pistol rest.

I will have some of these covert, watertight, floating, tactical range gear containers for sale to discerning shooters who only use the best. I believe the first production run of this revolutionary new firearm accessory item will be complete just in time for the IIISHOT1000. Projected price is three easy payments of $4.99**

But that's not all. For the first 50 customers, I will provide 2 of these containers for the same low price of three easy payments of $4.99** ;) :D

** Plus a $5.99 handling fee.

FALPhil,

The range is Double Naught Spy's private range--Horn Hill Range.

KingEdward,

Didja ever wonder if they really kept track of every time that commercial aired and counted down the next 20 minutes. :D

I usually carry my ammo in a heavy duty paper bag or canvas range bag, but the forecast was for rain. The occasion screamed for something reasonably waterproof and I happened upon the container in the garage. The rest is history...

I expect to see some of the major gun manufacturers pick these up and provide logoed versions in their online stores! (Or maybe not. :D )
