Had it out to the range a couple of days ago with another TFL'er and put it through its' paces.
I shot the first 20 rounds using PMP 147gr FMJ Ammo. The results were not very impresive. The best group (5 rounds) @ 100 yds was 1"x5", due to verticle stringing of the rounds. I was thinking ..."D@mn, my breathing must be really out there for this to happen.
The remainder of the target work was done with my first .308 handloads. 150 gr. Winchester component bullets, over 42.5 gr of IMR4895 powder. Primers were Win. LR.
The first 5 rounds showed me that it was the ammo, and not the breathing. Group size for 5 rounds @ 100 yds was 1.5"x 2.1". (This is with open sites)
I tried a 200yd group but I was only able to attain a group of 5".
-I found it hard to see the target. Next time I'll use a target with a large black center.
I ordered a 6-24X50 scope and mount today, so I'll try it out once it comes in.
Anyone else with range data on M1A rifles and variants?
How about accurizing info?
Oh, -Brian... your Ruger PC9 is pretty darn cool.
