I am interested in purchasing an SKS in the near future. Can I get some education please? i.e. what to look for, things to avoid, fair prices new & used, the availability of hi-cap mags. I owned one several years ago, but sold it on impulse.
I have been out of the loop since then. Thanks in advance.

I have a chinese sks with the long spike bayonet, I bought mine about 9-10 yrs ago...I did not shoot it until about a yr ago...it shoots good....its not a norinco...but is is chinese...I added a 1" extension to the butt stock...(I have long arms)...its shoots much better......if you want a rifle that takes clips, get a romainian sar1 ak47 7.62x39...same as sks....but get it soon.....i have both....the sks is a higher quality construction....you need both

go russian if you can find one that you can afford...build back in the '50s, nice machining, threaded barrels, etc.

chinese is sorta hit and miss, so my next choice would be romanian...but that's just me. i woud think that yugo or cz would be nice because that had pre-existing firearms industries...but try finding one:rolleyes:
