I have a S&W mod. 29-3 serial. 325xx with a non-fluted cylinder and a 6in.full underlug barrell (it actually measures 5 3/4 in. ). It also has a 4 position front sight. I bought it in the early eightys and was told at that time it was of a limited production . I have never seen another one like it. I would apperciate any information on this model. thank you kbk

I had the same gun. It was a run of 5,000 units and was called a Classic Hunter. I traded it for a 629 mainly because I could not find a holster that would work with that adjustable front sight.

Hey KBK, nice revolver you have there. I had fun shooting it the other day. Could someone check their S&W book and see when this run of blued Classic Hunters was produced? Was this a special run for a Lew Horton-type distributor or was it a cataloged Smith gun?

Skeeter is correct. "The Classic Hunter", 5K produced in 1987 for Lew Horton.

Not unusual for 6" S&W barrel lengths to be a little short. I think I have one that actually measures a full 6". Most are between 5 3/4 and 5 7/8". I don't know why...
