Information on a SW Model 36

Bullrock

I'm looking at a Smith Wesson, Model 36, 2 Inch barrel for carry. The gun was made in 1973, and appears in very good condition.

Is there anyone who has experience with one of these nice looking little suckers?

Yep, Get it.

Great gun and will last a lifetime or two with care and shoot good 38 spec. The 130 grain loads out there are the choice today.

I've got one Bullrock, the only one I like better is my M37. The 37 is quite a bit lighter, and that is the main reason why I like the 37 better. I really enjoy my 36 too, and it gets some miles on it. You can't go wrong with a nice 36.

Slap a Tyler T-grip on and enjoy. Decent CCW. I prefer 158 gr JHPs as they are not designed with hi-speed cartridges of today. You can't count on expansion or stabilization with the shorter barrel. I still have one in the OEM S&W leather holster. I prefer a 3", RB, blued and bobbed hammer M36.

I've shot quite a few 36s,60's, 38's over the years and agree with everything HSMITH said. I just found a like-new 1968 vintage 37. Some people use these with +Ps but the factory had never approved the practice and I'm sticking with standard pressure loads.

Thanks Guys

A few days ago I bid on a Colt Detective Special. I really wanted that gun. I was high bid but the reserve wasn't met. So I bought this one for $400.00.
Thanks for all of the info... :) I think I'm going to like this just as well.

I've been trying to figure out what this revolver I have is exactly. It looks exactly like the ones in this thread but it's much older I think. It says 38 s.&w. spl. on the barrel. How do I find out exactly what year it is or whatever. Basically just to find out some more info on it. On the right side it also says, Made in U.S.A. Maras Registradas smith & wesson, Springfield, Mass.

The serial number is 555***

Hi, Smoke 63b,

We need more info than that to identify the gun. The model number may be on the frame under the cylinder crane; you can see it if you swing out the cylinder. If the gun was made before S&W used model numbers, we need other info and/or a picture.

The model 36 was "THE" gun to carry a few years back. I did and always felt confident that any type of social situation could be handled. Still have it and still feel that way. Quantrill
