Trying to find any info on a Remington double barrel (side by side) 12 gauge. It is pretty old, came to me from great grandfather. Says Remington arms on both sides and on the butt plate. has no model number or anything at all on the barrels. serial # is under the trigger guard and it 7 digits begining with a Q...... not really interested in value as I will never part with it. shot a ton of ducks with it when I was a kid. Just wondering if anyone might know a model number or about the time it would have been manufactured. ...... have been enjoying this forum for some time now but this is my first post. thanks. WSH

WSH:
Does it have exposed hammers?
Is the receiver "Case Hardened" Bbls blue
Is the pistol grip rounded, (like a Browning A-5) or flat on the bottom?

HJN,
hi,
hammers are not exposed. the pistol grip is rounded.
not sure if case hardened or not but the receiver does seem to have a slight blueish tinge to it. can e-mail a picture of the shotgun if you want. thanks for the help. WSH

From your description you have the Remington Hammerless, model 1894. It came with damascus and fluid steel bbls, and as you mentioned you had done a lot of duck hunting with it, I am surmizing that you were using current mfg'd ammo and didn't have a problem, that the bbls are fluid steel. These bbls increase the value of the shotgun as demascus tends to lower the value.
