I was offered a MAROCCHI OVER AND UNDER STYLE--34 INCH SINGLE BARREL,AUTO EJECTOR, . HIGH VENT RIB TRAP SHOTGUN WITH TWO STOCKS AND A HARD CASE in trade for a S&W 686+.

i have searched for these shotguns and can find very little info about them. Whats the price range? Quality? would you accept the trade?

I do not own a Marocchi / and to my knowledge, I've never seen one of their guns in person. I remember seeing reviews a few years ago on Marocchi O/U's in sporting clays magazines - but I had not heard or seen that they were making any single barrel Trap guns.

Marocchi is an Italian mfg / and there were reports awhile back that they were making guns for Daly, etc - and I think its fair to say, Marocchi is a middel of the road mfg. I think several years ago, their O/U's were selling for around $ 2,500 - $3,000. I suspect their single barrel Trap guns were in the same price range / and you said you have 2 stocks which is a little unusual. So I guess in reasonable condition - the gun might very well be worth $ 2,000 / maybe more - but without a picture, I don't know that I can get any more specific.

A S&W 686 - in my area - is probably worth $ 500 - $ 750 depending on the specific model, barrel length, etc.

So on the surface - it looks like a good trade / if you want a single barrel Trap gun...

I see a lot of single barrel Trap guns around / Browning, Beretta, Perazzi, Krieghoff, Ljutic, etc - but I have not seen a Marocchi - and depending on the fit, finish, feel, weight .... its really hard to tell what the gun is worth in terms of value. It may be well known in some Trap shooter circles / I'm not a big Trap shooter ....and while I own 2 single barrel Trap guns - they are both Browning's ( one is a BT-99 and one is a BT-100 )... and a gun that is not well known may not retain its value...if that matters to you.

Based on that link - 1800 British pounds on that gun / is about $ 2,800 US - so do you really think that single barrel sold for that much less / or has depreciated that much ??

single barrel = specialized trap gun Big Jim.....how much do new Browning trap guns go for compared to a single barrel auto?

I don't know....Marocchi's are making inroads lately like CG, Blaser, Padrone and others have been......let's face it - the USA is STILL the single biggest market for sporting arms.....if they're using the BOSS action, that tells me they have a decent idea of what they are doing.

Back in my stupid youth, I passed on an Ithaca trap gun, made in the 60's.....why? It said "Made in Italy"......I know now that meant made by PERAZZI..........this was in the 80's, the gun was mint and was $250.00......gotta love that 20-20 hindsight.....could these marocchis be that next wave of down-the-road woulda-coulda-shoulda?.....maybe

In my area I see a lot of Browning single barrel Trap guns - and even used the BT - 99 with an adj comb is selling for $ 1500 in good shape / more if it has a GraCoil system in it.

The older Browning BT - 100 will sell for more than a similar equipped BT-99 just because it has the removeable trigger group - but $ 1500 - $2K is probably about right.

Honestly, while I have a BT-99 and a BT-100 - I like the Browning XT a lot better for Trap ( heavier, swings better, feels better ..).

I don't really know the value on this Marocchi - I've never seen one in person. It will be intersting if we could see photos of this gun ...

A little web searching and the Marocchi appears all over the map pricewise. The home webpage http://www.marocchiarms.com/index.php?sprache=0 appears to show some nicely made guns and other pages have the guns at $1200 to $2500 - then I found this http://www.ukgunroom.com/viewGun.jsp?id=11639 from England at about $450.00 - I guess you gotta know the model and grade.

I agree - I'd keep the 686 or find something a lttle better know and possibly repairable locally if something goes wrong.

I knew a couple that purchased a pair of Marocchi shotguns. Sleek looking guns, but alot of shop time on his gun for trigger and barrel selection. Bad turnaround time if I remember correctly.

All over the map is right. Frenchy Frigon (Clay Center, Kansas) had Marocchi build them for him with his label.

Frigon FT-1, etc.

Bottom material. And OTOH there are some pretty high grade Marocchis.

It will take a person well versed in these guns to give a decent opinion.
