I found one and it's pretty neat! Says Airweight on the bbl and is a 6 shot cylinder!
It appeqars to be built on a frame, one size up from my Model 36.
Is this a heavier duty revolver than the "J" frame?
The barrel has what looks to be a pin at it's base. The barrel dosen't look to be a "Lined" arrangement but looks to be a single steel unit.
Is thisrevolver some sub-Model of the Model-10 Military and Police?
Any insight on this model would be appreciated because I am temped by the reasonable price on the gun!

Your gun is not a 10-2 if airweight, its rather a 12-2, or simply a model 12. These are known as M&P airweights. This model was made on the 6 shot S&W 38 K frame. While this frame is bigger than the J, it is not necessarily stronger, esp in this model (airweight frame), athough you are very unlikely to wear it out as long as you don't use hot loads. The barrel was not lined, it is steel just as the cylinder is. The frame itself is the alloy part. When nice these are normally $300 to $400.

Yeah, a model 10 Airweight doesn't make much sense. Is it possible the barrel was swapped at some point?

Look in the frame cut-out where the crane arm for the cylinder swings out. The model number should be stamped in there.
