Inexpensive, high-velocity, copper-coated .22lr

I've used target lead .22lr ever since I started shooting, but now I have a .22 pistol that prefers the zippy stuff.

What's hot, inexpensive, and, while I'm at it, jacketed/coated roundnose? Please don't say Remington cheapo bricks. Maybe Winchester?

Try them all?

I use W-W Super-X.

I'll definitely try them all, but it's not always clear which ones are hot. Think I've used and liked Super-X. Good idea.

Why not Remington ?

My 22/45 loves the 36grain Golden HP's. They are brass plated, reliable, and cost $11 for 525, does it get any better ?

Sorry-The Remington Golden bullets are the best out there IMHO.You could go with Federals as long as you don't mind a lot of squib rounds.

Between Federal Classic, Remington Golden Bullets, Winchester Super-X, and CCI mini-mags, I have the least number of duds with the CCI.

Schmackey:

1. Stinger is hotter load than Mini Mag.

2. Mini Mag is equivalent to Federal Classic or Remington Golden or Winchester Super -X. ALL are high velocity rounds.

3. I find Federal Classic and CCI Mini Mags to almost identical (in fact since the two firms have the same owner, I suspect they may BE identical.) I have bought a few batches of the Mini Mags that seemed to have more wax/lubricant than the Federal, so I've been using the Federal more lately.

4. Most .22 pistols are ammo sensitive insofar as point of impact matching point of aim. This should be primary concern, since all major ammo brangs are pretty good.

I hate to say it, but another vote for the Remmington Golden Bullets here. Eight and change for a value pack box of 550 isn't a bad deal.

What do you have against them? They've been much better than Federal and Winchester for me.

I'm not sure if they were the "golden bullet" variety, but both times that I've used inexpensive Remington .22lr, I had many, many fail-to-fires. Last time, I discarded an unfinished box.

I'm intrigued by the Federal Hyper Velocity.
