Indoor range for magnums

About 2 months ago I purchased a beautiful Smith & Wesson .44 magnum. However, being that it is winter where I live, the outdoor range is closed. To my surprise, I have searched high and low for a indoor range and all I could find is a private club that is hard to get into and charges something like $300 a year. I can't justify spending that much. Is anyone else finding it hard to find indoor ranges? If so, whats the deal? Liability issues?

Indoor range for 300 a year is cheap in some places. Here one club charges 20 dollars a year and I have see clubs that are thousands. Frankly, find a sand pit
and chew up some snow till its time to warm up :)

In my home state (NJ) 2 indoor ranges and 1 outdoor range have closed,
one due to a lost lease, not sure about the others. Remember these are businesses, if they don't make a profit, they close. One of the indoor ranges
that closed was on 15 minutes from home, I had been going there for years.

I shoot at a local private range in Bristol, Pa. costs 160 a year and they allowed 44 magnums. Another place I went to said no 44 magnums just specials.

$300 A Year Range?

Tracker1:
Connsider this for a minute.
The BATF shut down our local indoor range for "bad record keeping". You could get a year's membership for $250, 5 years ago.Inflation...
After 18 months the new owners have No Anual Menbership. Currently you pay $8.50 per hour to shoot and you must use their targets...Nothing off your computer. Shoooting one hour each of 52 weeks, that $442.00.

My local rod and gun is $75 a year... And indoors is a 25 years shooting range and as long as velocity is below 2000 FPS we can use it.

I second the sandpit, while I like the formal nature of the range the sand-pit is the easiest to do plus my range doens't allow me to bring any targets except paper ones without prior approval. And sometimes I just want to shoot jugs and other stuff =)

The other range charges like $175 a year, but they are more organized and offer 'prettier' facilities, but it's shooting it's not meant to be pretty with floral scented bathroom facilities. Although it would probably be nice sometimes but who uses the bathrooms in those places
