Indiana - the following was on yesterday's editorial page ....

Friday Forum "Gunning for Guns"
Alarmed by what they see as an epidemic of firearm deaths in Marion County and the nation, some health professionals are taking on gun violence as a public health issue.

The Indiana Partnership to Prevent Firearm Violence says it is open to suggestions as to ways to alleviate the problem. But there are skeptics who say the right to gun ownership is threatened by this movement. They argue that existing laws on gun misuse aren't being adequately enforced.

Do the doctors have the right prescription? What can we do to protect ourselves and our children in a society awash with guns?

On October 13, Friday Forum will be devoted to letters to the editor on these questions.

Send your letters to:

We need to flood them with pro-gun suggestions ... hey, they asked for suggestions, we're just complying! ;)

Looks like our letters made it through, including mine (to my surprise.)

This just in from my wife who was reading the paper at work ( snicker, she gets paid for it to, she works at the Indianapolis Start.) From what she says, there are 6 letters and to op-ed letters, 5 against the Doctors, 3 for the Doctors.

Will post more when I get home or if I find the letters online.

Peace...
Keith

I thought that must be your letter! Great! :) Mine must be at the bottom of the circular file. Two of our people from our group got letters published.

The op-ed one ticks me off. Notice he uses figures from '97. If he'd used the figures from '99 they would have shown that the only Midwest states with murder rates lower than Indiana's (7.3 per 100,000) are Kentucky and Ohio. Tennessee, Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri were all higher. They throw '97 figures around because that is the one year out of many that we had an unusually high murder rate.

I did like the fact that there were more pro letters than anti ones.
