Michiana Second Amendment Advocates Members and friends;
The City of South Bend is attempting again to pass ordinance that would restrict the possession of firearms throughout the city. As you may know the city attempted such a thing back in 1994. But the Indiana legislature has restrictions on cities ability to regulate the possession of firearms in their city.
The restrictions as you know will not stop the liberal city government from still attempting to place restrictions on firearms within city. That is why we all need to be in attendance at the executive board meeting on February 8 at 4:30 PM at the city-county building on the 4th floor behind the chambers and it is open to the public. If we are not successful in stopping it their, we have to go on and fight it in the open council meeting scheduled for Monday February 12 at 7:00 PM on the 4th floor of the city-county building in the city council chambers.
It is very important that we all attend both of these meetings and tell our friends to attend. You might say that I don’t live in South Bend so it has no effective on me. Well don’t you think that if South Bend can get away with it that a liberal city government near you may be next. If the city of South Bend finds a loophole in the state law it will open the flood gates for other cities to restrict our rights.
Here is part of the proposed ordinance:
Sec. 13-95 Public places where firearms are restricted; exceptions; signs to be conspicuously displayed.
(a) Firearms are prohibited in buildings and grounds owned or administered by a municipal corporation, with “municipal corporation” having the definition as that set forth in Indiana Code § 36-1-2-10 (excluding all public ways including but not limited to streets, alleys, and sidewalks);
Thank You
Mark Vanderberg
