Well, they're a week late, but the MMMers are coming to South Bend, Indiana on Sunday, May 21st. I just got this e-mail:
________________________________
Michiana Second Amendment Advocates will hold a demonstration at Howard Park in South Bend, Indiana on Sunday, May 21, 2000 beginning at 12 Noon CST. The demonstration will promote Second Amendment awareness as well as firearms safety through education. Following the demonstration at Howard Park, MSAA will march Jefferson Avenue toward the South Bend Century Center, to attend the C.U.R.E. event at Island Park.

Chicago's attitude has been rubbing off on northern Indiana. A lot of anti-gun activities are invading our Hoosier state from the north. It would be great if the MMMers were out numbered :)

May I suggest the rented U-Haul "Black Truck of Truth"?

Use friendly talk radio to let folks know that they will have comrades there to "bond" with.

Have all of your regulars make more signs than they can carry themselves. Many will show without.

Be vocal. Be LOUD. And spread out and move.

Bring bullhorns. Bring airhorns. Bring water.

Let them know you mean bizzness

Yes, bring water! My throat was quite parched after last Sunday's demonstration.

I wish I could have known about this protest sooner. I have already made plans for Sunday. :( It would have been nice to see you all again.

Be prepared to lead the assemblage in patriotic songs such as "God Bless America" (most effective if you can get a boombox and a recording of Kate Smith) and "Oh, Beautiful". These warm, fuzzy, feel-gooders will have their own singing ensembles and so should you. Hand out copies of the words because one verse will simply p--- them off for far too short of a time. Everyone knows the music already.

The other thing that will p--- them off is that while their groups are singing songs that no one in the audience knows the words to, and thus cannot join in, your group will form a grand chorus that will include every voice.

Also, BRING FLAGS! These idiots don't know what one looks like as they have been so busy looking down their noses at us that they haven't had time to look up to see she still proudly waves; in spite of their best efforts to the contrary.

A great gesture that would do them damage would be to march down to the dais with a flag, staff, and stand and plant the flag. The base would have to be substantial to keep any wind from blowing it over. this gesture should be done with the press filming. The best thing that could possibly happen would be for them to remove the flag. Don't forget that the flag goes on the right side of the stage as you face the audience.

This has been the one prevailing complaint that I have heard voiced by those who have reported on the rallies they went to. We were the only ones who brought a flag. In Providence, RI, we had one flag among both groups and it was bourne by one of ours.

I posted this earlier this week, and I will be going along with my father in law from chicago. South Bend, is an intersting place. The county we live in is very republican, but we in the city have a democratic mayor, and a democratic representative (tim roemer). It should be fun and I will post my experiences.

Oh I will bring my Flag.

Great hoosierboy! They'll be glad to have you. Unfortunately, my schedule has been so packed, I can't get there. I held out hope until this morning, but now I know there's no way I can make it up there in time. Carry the flag extra high for me. :)

It was a great showing, I would like to thank all that made it, Simenov was great on the bull horn, and really roused up the troops. There were about 80 of us and about 250 of them, which is not bad considering we planned it in about 4 or 5 days. We made the news too on all the stations It was my first, and I would highly recommend it to all.

So tell us the good parts; and don't leave anything out. I hope you were a major burr in their saddle.
