Im going in to get my gun permit in the next few weeks and i was wondering what all i will need to take in. I know i need 125 dollar money order for the lifetime permit. Im guessing social sercurity card and birth certificate? Im only 19 so i dont think i will be able to get a CCW permit but i do plan on getting just a regular handgun permit. Another question: what will i be able to do with this permit in general; transportation wise, anything else id need to know. Any info would be great thanks

Just a driver's license should be fine, but I don't remember them asking for mine. Maybe they did and I forgot, but either way you don't need to bring anything special.

Just go down to your designated permit place (here it's the police station) and ask for the forms, fill them out, get fingerprinted, give them the cashola/forms and start your wait.

Get the personal protection carry permit, the others are pretty useless.

The lifetime permit is sweet, I'm a fan.:)

Call the person giving your class and ASK THEM exactly what you need

Indiana has no training requirement.

I got mine when i was 19 so it was no big deal. Mine was only a 4 year but i wish i would have got the lifetime instead. I think the did ask for my driver liscense, social, and i'm thinking a birth certificate but i cannot remember for sure though.

so being 19 ill be able to get my personal protection carry permit?! if so thats going to be great! i wasnt sure if i would be able to have that without being 21. so if i understand this right once i get this permit ill be able to conceal my glock on me and be able to go anywhere (other than goverment buildings, schools, place like that) or is it just for the car?

With a concealed carry permit you can carry except for all the places where it isn't allowed. They should give you a copy of those places when you apply. Since your state has the option of a life time permit I suggest you getting it. It will save you money and time in the long run. I just wish they offered it here.

You are responsible for checking the laws of every state you will travel to prior to going if you plan to carry in those states.

great!! i did a little research and i am able to CC being under 21. im pretty excited. i plan on going in tomorow and applying

Holsters
Right now i have a blackhawk serpa in the mail that ill be using for range/farm uses. What IWB would you guys suggest? Ill be carrying a G19

Here is my prefered IWB holster. I ordered it with some extra holes to allow it to be worn either as a cross draw or strong side. It also gives me more adjustment to the angle too. I understand Ryan is getting a bit back logged right now and the wait is 2 to 3 months. I carry a Sig P-6 most of the time and this City Slicker holster if very comfortable to me for all day wear with a good belt. A good belt is just as important and maybe more so then a good holster is.

I got my lifetime a few years back(05) I dont remember anything about a birth certificate, I know the lady that did the paperwork and did the fingerprints (small town). IIRC it was just a drivers licence. It was about a 3 week wait. The licence is a little slip of pink paper that you should laminate. Nothing else came with the lic. so do your homework on where you can carry and cant. INgunOwners has some info that might help.

thanks for the links. ill check into that holster possibly

i will definetly check that site and do some more homework while waiting on the permit to get in. thanks for everything

You can get your ccp as long as you don't have any felonies. Pretty simple to get a permit in Indiana. I have my lifetime and so does my wife. No special classes just go to your police station or sheriff's department. Also you won't be allowed to carry on private property, such as hospitals, malls, and anywhere that it is posted on the door as you walk in. Hope this helps. Just do some diggin on the net and you can find the gun laws. Best of luck, keep us posted when you get it.

Indiana has no training requirement.

Yes, I use to live in Indiana, but the bad news is because they do not have a training requirement, then Indiana has no reciprocal agreements with states that require training.

Well, I have been doing some later reading and I will have to modify my statement. Many states do honor the Indiana permit, but there are some like SC that will only honor permits that have training. But it looks like they Indiana) have much better reciprocity than when I lived in Indiana.:)
